Description
The River Protection Project System Plan comprises a set of scenarios that evaluate options for safely treating the high-level radioactive waste stored in underground tanks at the DOE Hanford Site. It establishes a baseline case, used for communicating the DOE's strategy to various stakeholders, as well as ten alternative scenarios that evaluate initiatives to potentially accelerate cleanup and/or address risks. The scenarios were modeled using TOPSim, a custom flowsheet simulator that includes chemistry and mass transfer elements used to estimate operating durations and completion dates, quantities of waste treated through various processes, as well as the time required to complete treatment. The TOPSim results are aligned to a resource-loaded OracleR Primavera P6 schedule to estimate the life cycle cost of the cleanup mission. This paper will outline the results of the System Plan, Rev. 8 modeling effort. (authors)
