Time resolved magnetic field modulation of α-particle induced scintillation in organic crystals
Description
The effects of external magnetic fields on time resolved scintillation of anthracene crystals subjected to α-irradiation containing both paramagnetic and non-paramagnetic quenching centers has been studied. Crystals of anthracene doped with several ppm tetracene allow for introduction of non-paramagnetic triplet exciton traps, whereas 60Co X-ray irradiation introduces a high density of paramagnetic triplet exciton quenching centers. The results are consistent with current understanding of exciton dynamics in α-particle tracks
