A grand-unified SO(10) model with dynamical symmetry breaking
Description
We present a SO(10) model of grand-unification where the Higgs phenomenon is inudced dynamically by fermion condensates. The main quality of this model is that it obeys, in a somewhat realistic way the requirement that all symmetry breakings are signalled by gauge singlet four-fermion condensates revealing the existence of an effective symmetry breaking Higgs potential. This requirement, inspired by a recent lattice investigation of dynamical symmetry breaking, is discussed in detail. Some phenomenological implications of this model are examined and in particular the existence of new fermions, including a charge 2 heavy lepton, with masses around 102 GeV. (orig.)
