Evaluation of inhomogeneity correction algorithm in 3DCRT for the purpose of gated treatments

  • 1. Department of Radiation Oncology, Kamal Nayan Bajaj Cancer Centre, Ruby Hall Clinic, Pune (India)

Description

It has been established that the tumors in chest such as lung and abdomen do move during the course of treatments and it is accurate to treat them with gated imaging and treatment. However, the increased dose per fraction delivered while delivering this kind of treatments with tighter margins make it imperative to verify the inhomogeneity corrections are applied accurately in the treatment planning systems. The purpose of this work is to check the inhomogeneity corrections used or applied in the treatment planning system in terms of phantom measurements and also relate it to other methods of corrections such as ETPR
