Temperature of surface layers and structural distortions under grinding of polycrystalline tungsten

  • 1. AN Ukrainskoj SSR, Kiev (Ukraine). Inst. Problem Materialovedeniya

Description

Temperature in the contact zone under grinding of polycrystalline tungsten is experimentally determined. The interval 100-950 deg C is provided by the use of different abrasive wheels and by variation of the cutting-in gepth. It is established that structural distortions determined by the physical widening of the X-ray interference lines increase with temperature to 550 deg C and then stabilize. The considered grinding conditions mainly correspond to the temperature interval of lamination in tungsten. Results of the investigations will help to select wheels for grinding refractory materials
