Description
Phase equilibria in the V-Ga-Y system have been studied and the yttrium effect on the superconducting properties and structure of V3Ga-based alloys has been investigated. Isothermal cross-section of the V-Ga-Y system has been plotted at 800 deg C. Ternary O-phase system of the V3YGa6 approximate composition crystallized from liquid state and homogeneous in a narrow concentration range has been detected. It has been established that in a ternary system only solid solutions based on vanadium and β-phase of V3Ga have superconductivity at temperatures above 4.2 deg K. Yttrium decreases a critical temperature of β-phase. With increasing yttrium content a maximum of critical temperature of β-phase in ternary alloys shifts towards higher gallium concentrations
