Description

The calibration factor of an ionization chamber can be related to the check reading caused by one or more overall radioactive stability check devices. It will be shown how one ionization chamber can be used for the intercomparison of three SSDLs. Each SSDL has its own radioactive check device which, for one given chamber, is used at each SSDL to normalize the calibration factor on the basis of a check reading. To carry out an intercomparison the chamber alone, i.e. without a radioactive source, can be sent from place to place. This procedure has great advantages from the customs and transport safety regulations point of view. (author)
