Computed tomographic anatomy of the buttock

Computed tomography is an ideal method for imaging the buttock. Thorough knowledge of the anatomic structure of the buttock is necessary to accurately evaluate the many pathologic processes that originate from or extend into the buttock. A detailed review of buttock anatomy is presented here, with particular emphasis on cross-sectional anatomy as seen by computed tomography. (orig.)
