Meeting hydrogen demands
Description
This article discusses the increasing demand for hydrogen by refiners, and considers the recovery of hydrogen from offgases, expanding the existing hydrogen production capacity, installing new hydrogen capacity, and buying in hydrogen from outside sources. Charts are used to illustrate North American and Western European refinery hydrogen recovery from offgases using membrane, cryogenic, and adsorption technologies, and an example of relative hydrogen costs is plotted
