Methylation of various tissue proteins after X-radiation

Description

Three hours after X-irradiation (800 R) the rate of incorporation of a [C14H3]methionine methyl group into proteins of muscle stroma, brain and liver decreases while that of radioactive labelling of total aminoacyl-tRNA-synthetases preparations (ARSase, EC.6.1.1.) of the liver increases. Irradiation of animals at the background of the nicotinic acid administered stabilizes, up to normal, the incorporation of the methionine methyl group, but to ARSases only, while at the background of neostigmine methylsulfate, no modification of this process is observed
