Description
To stay competitive in the fast changing economic environment it is necessary to reduce a cost of operation and maintenance. One of the most important ways how to reduce this cost is to unify the environment and procedures within all the company. This includes the unified vendor catalogues, centralised parts purchasing, unified work management, document management and many others. To support all unified procedures the appropriate and exact information in time is required. Therefore the enterprise-wide maintenance/materials management systems are implemented. These systems represent the core information systems for companies and with information about capital assets, maintenance work orders, materials inventory and procurement, health and safety, and cost reporting, they touch nearly every key business processes in the company. In 1995 CEZ, a. s., the Czech Republic Power Generation Company embarked on an Enterprise Wide Maintenance and Materials management system implementation - the ISE Project. The main goal of ISE Project was to implement the unified system to manage maintenance work and other supporting activities at all thirteen power plants of CEZ. ISE Project implements a commercially available software package - the Indus International Passport Maintenance and Materials Management System. It was decided that no customisations could be used to modify the baseline software and all changes necessary to utilise this package will be done inside CEZ's plants. It was necessary to asses all requirements of all affected plants and then to decide on the best solution, which was consequently implemented in the unified manner. This implementation moderated the change of work culture and affected almost all personnel in CEZ's plants. By the full users involvement into each step of ISE Project users accepted the solution as their own one. The full migration of data from the existing CEZ's legacy systems into the newly implemented one and end user training and assistance were also in the scope of ISE Project. (author)
