Predicting the strength of chromium-base composites by the method of computer modeling

Description

The authors study a computer model in order to obtain systematic data on the strength of a chromium matrix reinforced with silicon-carbide and tungsten fibers over a broad temperature interval. The model is based on the hypothesis according to which the shear strains of the matrix between the fibers are directly proportional to the difference between the axial displacements of these fibers and inversely proportional to the distance between them. The distance between fibers was integrally averaged. It is possible to obtain the most accurate estimate of the material's strength using the method of simulation modeling. Moreover, the results of the modeling provide a qualitative estimate of the failure process
