Radiosensitive meningioma

  • 1. Miyazaki Medical Coll., Kiyotake (Japan)

Description

In a 24-year-old man, CT scan showed a huge meningioma in the left anterior and middle cranial fossae that originated from the left sphenoid ridge. The patient had preoperative cobalt-60 irradiation of a total dose of 49 Gy in 6 weeks. CT scan done two weeks after the completion of irradiation showed that the tumor had reduced to one third, which made it possible to perform curative surgery. Only minor visual disturbance remained as a neurologic sign. There was no evidence of relapse on CT scan one year after the first visit. (Namekawa, K.)
