Clean power from solid fuels
Description
Enviropower, a joint venture of Tampella Power, a leading Finnish boiler manufacturer and Vattenfall Ab, a major Swedish utility, is developing an advanced process for power generation based on pressurized fluidized bed gasification of solid fuels such as coal, peat or biomass and an advanced hot gas clean-up train. A gasification pilot plant of 10 MWth has been built in Tampere, Finland, for research and component testing and as the first step towards the commercialization of this technology. Enviropower's IGCC process has been selected by the United States Department of Energy to be demonstrated in the Clean Coal Program Round IV
