New class of carbon allotropes- the fullerenes
Description
The fullerenes, synthetic allotropes of carbon that have highly symmetrical cage like structures, provide insight not only into interesting chemistry but also into the artificiality of the perceived dichotomy between arts and sciences. The fullerene family is growing very rapidly and it has already shown a vast range of mechanical, chemical, magnetic and electrical properties including high-temperature superconductivity.
