Imaging and quantitative analysis of regional cerebral blood volume by ring type SPECT

  • 1. Fujita-Gakuen Health Univ., Toyoake, Aichi (Japan)

Description

Regional cerebral blood volume (rCBV) was quantitatively measured in 13 healthy volunteers using SPECT with in vivo Tc-99m labeled erythrocytes. The rate of erythrocyte labeling was 97.3 +- 0.71 % for the first scanning and 97.6 +- 0.73 % for the second scanning, with relatively favorable stability. The boundary between the cerebral parenchyma and lateral ventricle was not seen; nor was the boundary seen between the cerebral cortex and white matter. The mean rCBV was 4.06 +- 0.55 (ml/100 g of brain). There was neither bilateral difference nor age-dependency in rCBV. Measurement of rCBV with SPECT may provide clinically important information.
