Description

The static quadrupole moments of the first 2+ excited states of 54Fe, 56Fe and 58Fe were measured utilizing the reorientation effect in Coulomb excitation. Results for B(E2; 0+ - 2+) and Q2+ -values were obtained by combining, for each Fe isotope, light heavy ion (12C or 16O) and heavier heavy ion (52Cr or 40Ca) Coulomb excitation results. Scattered 12C or 16O ions or recoiling Fe ions were detected in QDDD spectrometer. The results for the B(E2; O+-2+), Q2-pairs (in e2fm4 and e fm2), are as follows: 54Fe : 676+-38, -5+-14, 56Fe : 1022+-55, -19+-8, 58Fe : 1234+-36, -27.3+-5.0. (author)
