Measurement of x-ray spectra using a CdTe detector

  • 1. Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science, Daejeon (Korea, Republic of)

Description

The energy distribution of the bremsstrahlung photons emitted from the tungsten anode X-ry tube was measured using a CdTe detector. The energy calibration of the CdTe detector was carried out with the characteristic X-ray and gamma-rays of 241Am and 133Ba. In addition, the detection efficiency of the CdTe detector for the low energy photons was evaluated by the Monte Carlo code, PENELOPE-a code system for Monte Carlo simulation of electron and photon transport (Salvat et al., OECD/NEA databank, 2003). The low energy X-ray spectra with the maximum energies in the range from 10 to 60 keV measured by the CdTe detector were presented and analyzed
