  • 1. Institute of Radiation Protection, Helsinki (Finland)

Description

The system of supervisory activities of authorities in Finland in the course of nuclear power plant construction is described. This regulation is based on the nuclear energy law, on the radiation protection law, on the standardization law and on the decree of control of pressure tanks. The open questions have been solved by directives of the Institute for Radiation Protection (IRP). The commissioning procedure for a nuclear power station is outlined, with emphasis on the licensing procedures. The role of the IRP in licensing, supervision and operative control in construction, manufacturing, start-up and operation is described. (author)
