Determination of limesonte quality by x-ray radiometric method using ''BRA-6'' apparatus

  • 1. Karagandinskij Politekhnicheskij Inst. (USSR)

Description

The CaO content in various limestones was determined by x-ray fluorescence using the BRA-6 apparatus. The radionuclide 109Cd (total activity 1.5 mCi) was used as the γ-source. The analyzed sample was measured together with the standard (Calcite). The apparatus was calibrated (from 16 to 55.5% CaO) by using the results of chemical analysis of samples. The least-squares method was used to correlate CaO content with the instrumental signal from the sample and the standard; MgO, 0.28-0.72%, did not interfere. The method is precise and much faster than the usual chemical method
