Methods of studying radioactive-gas diffusion in solids. X. Phenomenological theory of the radioactive gas label method

Description
The phenomenological theory is considered for the gas-label method, which is based on examining the release of a radioactive gas on programmed heating. Expressions are derived for the outgassing kinetics in the presence of radioactive decay and a range of initial states, as well as for defect generation and annealing and gas retention in the traps. Kinetic curves are simulated for linear temperature increase for specimens of various shapes with various concentration profiles under diffusion-limited and kinetic states. It is shown that the method is sensitive to structure inhomogeneities, probe characteristics, heating processes, and a wide range of other parameters
