Isolation of indium-111 and cadmium-107 from metals by means of low-temperature (preliminary) heating

Description

Method for isolation of non-carrier radionuclides, the distinctive feature of which is application of diffusion processes for transfer of admixture radioactive atoms onto the interface, from which they can be removed by specially selected chemical agint. Possibilities of the method were demonstrated in case of separating cadmium-107 from silver and indium-111 from cadmium. The radioisotopes mentioned above were obtained through cyclotron radiation of metal targets of natural isotope composition. The targets were preheated at temperatures below the melting temperature of the matrix basic component. The method is simple and applicable for obtaining multiple radioactive isotopes; it makes if possible to obtain preparations of any specific activity
