Comparative investigations of 111In- and 59Fe-chloride showed marked differences with regard to their biochemical behaviour. Unlike 59Fe, the prolonged plasma clearance of indium with a half-life of 14 h and its very low utilisation of 1-2% do not enable the drawing of parallels to ferrokinetics. On the other hand, with its preferred enrichment in the erythropoietic bone marrow in combination with the physical properties that give it a much better scintigraphic representability than 59Fe, 111In-chloride presents an elegant way of imaging the extent and localization of erythropoiesis. This method is useful in haematological differential diagnostics, radiotherapy, cytostatic therapy, etc. (orig./AK)

Die Vergleichsstudien von 111In- und 59Fe-Chlorid erbrachten wesentliche Unterschiede in bezug auf ihr biochemisches Verhalten. Die verlaengerte Plasmaclearance des Indiums mit einer HWZ von 14 Std. und seine geringe Utilisation von 1-2% lassen im Gegensatz zu 59Fe keine Parallelitaet zur Ferrokinetik ableiten. Die bevorzugte 111In-Anreicherung im erythropoetischen Knochenmark hingegen, in Kombination mit der aufgrund der physikalischen Eigenschaften guten szintigraphischen Darstellungsmoeglichkeit im Gegensatz zu 59Fe, bietet 111In-Chlorid eine elegante Moeglichkeit, Ausdehnung und Lokalisation der Erythropoese sichtbar zu machen.
