Study on erbium chloride interaction with organic N-oxides

Description
Spectrophotometric, conductometric and calorimetric methods were applied to study complexing of erbium chloride (ErCl3) with pyridine N-oxide (PyNO) and trioctylamine oxide (TOHO) in n-propanol. Complexes of ErCl3x6PyNO, ErCl3x2TOHO composition are shown to be formed at abundance of organic base in the solution. The first multistage constants of complexing (lgK1) are evaluated: 2.9 for ErCl3xPyNOs; 3.98 for ErCl3xTOHOs. Enthalpies of complexing of 1:1 composition are equal to 7.8 kJ/mole for ErCl3xPyNOs, 12.0 kJ/mole for ErCl3xTOHOs
