Description
Standard Reference Materials (SRMs) for use in measurement methods are normally procured from National Bureau of Standards, USA. However, of late NBS stopped supplying the SRMs of uranium and plutonium since they come under the category of nuclear materials. It has therefore become necessary to prepare standards and characterize them. The present paper summarises the work done on the preparation and characterization of U3O8 for use as a working standard.
