Bremsstrahlung induced by high-energy, heavy charged particle impact

  • 1. Tohoku Univ., Sendai, Japan

Description

Here, quasifree electron bremsstrahlung (QFEB) process which is interpreted in terms of radiation induced by a target electron scattered in the projectile frame is introduced. The mechanism of QFEB is discussed and the theory based on the impulse approximation, which has recently been advanced by the authors, is described. The theory is compared with recent experiment on a Be target. It is shown that the theory can reproduce well the experiment. Further, it is pointed out that the difference in the production cross sections of QFEB, normalized by the projectile charge, for incident particles of different charges with a same velocity reflects directly the velocity distribution of target electrons, and the contribution from REC process is also found in proton and 3He2+ ion impact
