Development of a cyclone incinerator at N.V. KEMA

  • 1. N.V. Samenwerkende Elektriciteits-Produktiebedrijven, Arnhem (Netherlands)

Description

A cyclone incinerator was developed for the treatment of solid wastes at a nuclear power station. In this paper arguments are given for this work and goals that had to be met. The experimental set-up will be described, and the parameters, important for the optimization of the process in this incinerator, will be discussed. For burnable reactor waste the throughput is 23 kg/h. Due to the flexibility the start up and turn down periods are short. Operation of the system is a one-man job, consisting primarily of loading wastes and treatment of ashes. (orig.)
