Control device for the withdrawal of control rods

Description

Purpose: To suppress the control rod worth as less as possible upon start-up and shutdown of BWR type reactors. Constitution: In the conventional control rod withdrawing operations, control rods to be withdrawed are divided into four groups and then withdrawed successively from the first group. However, according to this method, the control rod worth becomes highest at the time of withdrawing the third group and, if the control rod should fall, local power up would be resulted to impair the fuel integrity. In this invention, upon withdrawing a specified group of control rods, they are withdrawed once at an intermediate withdrawal position and, after all the control rods of the specified have been withdrawed to the withdrawal position, these control rods are finally withdrawed. In this way, the control rods worth upon withdrawal can entirely be reduced to improve the safety. (Kamimura, M.)
