Sustainable renewable energy for country: OECT Perspective

Creators

  • 1. OEC, New Delhi (India)

Description

Significant increase in the demand along with the dwindling supply of fossil fuels has raised concerns over the scarcity of energy supply. In view of the increase in energy demand and environmental pollution, energy security through optimal utilisation of renewable energy has attracted the attention of ONGC Energy Centre (OECT) since 2006 to work for several forms of renewables for along with green hydrogen mission without disturbing the ecosystem, Various programmes in sustainable renewable energy are being taken up by OECT such as Geo thermal energy, Solar thermal energy, Biotechnology in energy, kinetic hydro power, Hydrogen generation as a clean and green energy. Utilisation of renewable energy for need based electricity or hydrogen generation and CO2 utilisation by CCUS technologies are interesting. Because the costs are coming down and there is a lot of ways to make zero carbon hydrogen and in this respect the national hydrogen mission which was launched in 2021 will encourage and support to cutting down carbon emissions and increasing the use of renewable sources of energy abundant in India.
