Oxide thickness measurement of irradiated fuel cladding
Description
During irradiation in reactor, the fuel claddings experienced a diametric variance depend on burn up and longitudinal sagging. It is known that getting the accurate data of oxide thickness on irradiated fuel cladding is difficult by Eddy current method. To have valuable data of oxide thickness, a new type of eddy current probe which can reduce the friction force and insertion resistance between device and cladding was developed. This device can be used for various type of fuel claddings with diameter ranges from 9.5 to 12.7 mm. The results earned from the examination of the irradiated fuel cladding showed the reliable data with good accuracy of ±2.5μm
