Crystal and molecular structure of [Tc(CO)4I]2

Description

Crystal and molecular structures of dimeric technetium tetracarbonyliodide [Tc(CO)4I]2 are studied by X-ray crystal structure analysis. Lattice cell is monoclinic, a = 10.048(2), b = 12.319(5), c 13.200 A, β = 108.04(2) deg, V = 1553.6(1.5) A3, sp. gr. P21/c. Z = 4. Crystal is constructed form isolated [Tc(CO)4I]2 molecules. Tc-C bonds for COgroups located in trans-position to each other are approximately 0.09 A longer than for CO-groups located in trans-position to halogen atom, trans-influence of carbonyl groups is responsible for that. Isostructurity of [Tc(CO)4X]2 compounds with respect to both series Mn-Tc-Re and Cl-Br-I is pointed out. (author)
