Description
Immediate effects likely to occur after high radiation doses, as opposed to delayed effects to be expected after low radiation doses, are discussed in brief among other radiobiological issues of clinical relevance. Particular attention is given to elementary processes in the transmission of energy to biological matter and related changes at the cellular level. Further discussed are the basic radiobiological principles in the radiotherapy of tumours, which currently is the most important field of medical application of radiobiology. Welche Soforteffekte sind nach hohen Strahlendosen, welche Spaeteffekte nach niedrigen zu erwarten? Auf diese und andere klinisch bedeutsame Fragen der Strahlenbiologie wird in kurzer Form eingegangen. Besondere Beruecksichtigung findet die Darstellung der elementaren Prozesse der Energieuebertragung auf biologische Materie und der damit verbundenen Folgen im zellulaeren Bereich. Weiterhin werden die strahlenbiologischen Grundlagen einer Tumorstrahlentherapie als bedeutenste Anwendung der Strahlenbiologie in der modernen Medizin eroertert.
