Evaluation of chemical behaviors of volatile radioactive materials and development of their stabilization technique
Description
We established a research basis in order to understand the chemical behaviour of volatile fission products released on severe accident of NPPs and secure the evaluation technique. And we developed the stabilization technique of volatile fission products for preventing and minimizing the damage of severe accidents of NPPs. For the purpose, we carried out 4 different research items as follows: 1) Research on coolant radiolysis by using nuclear reactor, 2) Assessing chemical behavior of iodide in coolant, 3) Formulating the stabilizing plan for volatile fission products under coolant conditions, 4) Investigation of organic iodide production under gamma irradiation condition.
