New laser research and development

Description
New types of lasers must be developed to provide the desired energy per pulse, pulse length, pulse shape, wavelength, and efficiency for laser-fusion applications. Our advanced laser research has focused on rare-gas oxides, on Hg2 excimers, and on the HF chemical laser. Because HF work at LASL has been discontinued as of January 1976, we report progress to date in this area as well as suggested approaches and techniques that should be valuable to those still active in HF laser research
