Concentration dependence of obstruction effect in the diffusion of Zn2+ ions in KCl
Description
The obstruction effect in the tracer-diffusion of Zn2+ ions in agar gel medium containing potassium chloride is measured at different electrolyte concentrations using zone-diffusion technique. The decrease in obstruction effect calculated in terms of α-value with concentration of the electrolyte is explained in terms of the competitive hydration between ions and agar molecules.
