Experience on the verification of protection level dosemeters in Hungary
- 1. National Office of Measures (OMH), Budapest (Hungary)
Description
The reliability of technical data specified by the manufacturer and the period of validity of the verification are very important aspects in the meteorological practice in the field of radiation protection measurements. Experiences obtained with verifications made in OMH have proved that in many cases it is reasonable to check the values specified for the parameters of various models and to make regularly the periodic verifications. In the past years, due to the introduction of SI units and to the increasing numer of protection level dosemeters it was necessary to make some technical and organizational amendments in the practice of verification. This paper outlines the Hungarian practice of verification of secondary standards and field instruments used in radiation protection dosimetry and sums up our experiences obtained in the last fifteen years in this field. Moreover, the estimation of the measuring uncertainty as well as organizational aspects of the verification of dosemeters are discussed. (Author)
