Spleen weight determination by scintigraphy
Description
A scintigraphic method for the determination of spleen weight is reported. The precision of the method was evaluated by measuring the scintigrams twice with an interval of months. Accuracy was also assessed by comparing a local patient series (2395 patients) with American portmortem material (4000 deaths). Precision and accuracy seem to be satisfactory for clinical use. The method has been used to measure the spleen weight of 72 persons assumed to be healthy, and a reference interval was chosen. The 2395 local spleen weights were further analyzed for influence of sex and age
