ωπ0 final state in diffractive photoproduction

Description
In a search for new vector mesons in high energy photoproduction, the author reports the observation of a peak in the ωπ0 final state. The peak is at a mass of 1.206 GeV with a width of 0.156 GeV within error limits. Its photoproduction cross section is 193 +/- 43 nb per nucleon and has a p/sub perpendicular/2 distribution characteristic of diffractive production off a complex nucleus. Angular distributions indicate the spin and parity of the state to be primarily 1+
