Separation of perfusion and diffusion in MR imaging by means of function analysis
Description
The authors discuss how intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) method for separating perfusion from diffusion uses three images to calculate perfusion parameters. The functional dependence of the attentuation on the gradient factor (1.25-742 sec/mm2, nine images) has been used to calculate perfusion parameters in two models: an excised perfused dog kidney and a cotton fiber phantom. The attenuation function is made up of fast and slow exponentials strongly dependent on flow rate. This method of analysis was more consistent with independently measured perfusion rates than the IVIM method
