The magnitoelectric effect in some rare earth molybdates and related anomaties in magnetic, magnetoelastic and optical properties

Description

Dependences of electric polarization of monocrystal samples of β'-phases of Sm2(MoO4)3, Gd2(MoO4)3, Tb2(MoO4)3 and TbGd(MoO43 on magnetic field at the temperature of 78 K were measured. It is ascertained that in Tb2(MoO4)3 and TbGd(MoO4)3 magnetic field of approximately 100 kOe along axis [100] changes the direction of spontaneous electric polarization for the opposite one. Magnetization of Tb2(MoO4)3 at 4.2 and 78 K in pulsed magnetic field up to 300 kOe was measured. A giant monoaxial magnetocrystal anisotropy was revealed. Photoluminescence spectra of Tb2(MoO4)3 at the temperatures from 4.2 to 300 K were measured
