Description

The results are described and analyzed of a study into low-cycle fatigue and fatigue crack propagation in the base material and welded joints of steels CrMo and 20Mn5 designed for pressure vessels. Both steels showed good properties in the situation of high-deformation stress. The base material and welded joints of steel CrMo showed longer life. Welded joints of both steels made by automatic submerged-arc welding showed lower fatigue characteristics than the base metals. The rate of crack propagation in the welded joint was double that in the base metal. (Ha)
