Iodine hydrolysis reactions. Part 2

Description

The variation with time of the spectra of dilute iodine solutions has been measured. Measurements were made on a pure iodine solution and on solutions to which silver ions were added to perturb the equilibria. The component features of the spectra have been evaluated and a model developed which allows preliminary identification of the spectra of HI2O-, HIO2 or IO2- and possibly H2IOO2+. Initial estimates of rate constants or equilibrium constants have been made for several reactions. (author)
