Preparation of thorium - uranium mixed oxide

  • 1. Analytical Chemistry Div., Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)

Description

Current studies involve the preparation of thorium-uranium mixed oxide by heating the stoichiometric mixture of thorium oxalate hexahydrate and uranyl nitrate hexahydrate, where anions, of the precursors only, are being used as fuel and oxidant respectively, to carry forward the combustion process. Characterization of the prepared precursors as well as of the final product was done using simultaneous TG-DTA-EGA analysis in combination with x-ray diffraction technique. (author)
