Turbulent heat transfer prediction of supercritical flows using two-equation models

Description
A new turbulent heat-flux model is proposed in conjunction with two-equation turbulence model for supercritical flows where thermal properties of the fluid vary significantly even with small change of mean temperature. The model is based on the assumption that the correlation between the velocity fluctuation and the enthalpy fluctuation, -ρu'jh'0-bar, can not be simply expressed as the multiple of mean specific heat capacity and the correlation between the velocity fluctuation and temperature fluctuation as -c-barp-bar x ρu'jT'-bar. The model reflects the notion that the correlation related with the fluctuation of specific heat capacity, -u'jc'p-bar, is not negligible near the critical point. Predictions using the new model are found to be improved considerably. (author)
