Simulation and observation of nonlinear longitudinal space-charge phenomena in coasting beams

Description

Nonlinear longitudinal modes generated by the interaction of an intense beam with the resistive ring impedance determine the minimum phase space density achievable in high-current storage or accumulator rings. Kinetic simulations together with high-resolution experimental data obtained at GSI lead to a new insight in the long-time evolution of these nonlinear processes
