On the relation between low-energy solar cosmic rays and the development of the equatorial ring current

  • 1. AN SSSR, Kol'skij Filial. Polyarnyj Geofizicheskij Inst.

Description

A detailed investigation of the relation between injection characteristics of energetic solar protons and behaviour of the evolution of annular current has been made. Psub(st) index is used as a measure of annular current rate. The variations of the annular current rate during a storm have been shown to be intimately related to relevant solar proton flux variations in the interplanetary space. A linear relationship has been found to exist between magnetic storm amplitude and solar flash intensity. The fact supports the solar origin theory for annular current particles
