Analysis of the mean glandular dose in digital mammography

Description

Since mammography uses X-rays, it is of great importance to know the dose that will be received by the patient, to verify that the practice obeys the principles of radiation protection, especially the principle of ALARA optimization (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) for the radiological protection of the patient. According to the Normative Instruction (IN) 54 of 20 December 2019 of ANVISA and IAEA, there are reference values for the Mean Glandular Dose (DGM), according to the thickness of the compressed breast. Thus, the objective of the study is to make an analysis of the mean glandular dose (GMD) in patients submitted to mammographic examinations in a digital mammograph and compare them with the national and international references
