Description

The neutron radiography facility at the SCK/CEN BR1 reactor has been used since 1975 for the non-destructive quality control of mixed plutonium oxide fuel pins for thermal and fast reactors. The major purposes of this quality control are: the detection of density variations and Pu-heterogeneities in the fuel pellets, the detection of voids and foreign materials, and a final inspection of the fuel assembling. In the period June 1975 to June 1981 a total of 400 fuel pins were controlled, involving about 300 exposures. (Auth.)
