Development of electrolysers for large scale production of uranous nitrate to meet reprocessing requirements
Description
The development work carried out at PREFRE, Tarapur for the electrolytic production of uranous nitrate used extensively in the reprocessing of nuclear fuels is described. The performance characteristics and the advantages of this process involving titanium substrate insoluble anodes (TSIA) and titanium cathodes are discussed in comparison with conventional cells using mercury-platinum, graphite-platinum or titanium-platinum coated titanium.
