Description

The detection efficiency of the plastic scintillating fiber (PSF) for γ-ray radiation is presented through Geant4 simulation. The incident γ-rays with energy of 100-10,000 keV are considered. Absorption efficiency and scintillating response of PSF are also obtained, and the simulated results are consistent with the theoretic ones. From simulation, the main important factor of detection efficiency in the energy range is the absorption efficiency of the scintillating material. The cross talks in a fiber array are also discussed. These results could probably provide some ways of using PSF as a γ-ray imaging detector in certain applications
